i always wondered if the knight could reach anywhere with his perpendicular walk. i thought he should be able to, but wasn’t completely sure.

the paul auster connection! thanks for that. reading the excerpt today from “Species of Spaces and Other Pieces” I immediately thought of Auggie Wren’s photo project (and his Christmas Story) in Auster’s “Smoke / Blue in the face”.
i hadn’t made the connection, but yeh, you’re right! i need to finish watching that movie at some point. but i liked the reading a lot.
